The Latest Cover of Newsweek published on November 22nd, 2010 has President Obama in a strange pose with 6 arms working on some of the issues that he is supposed to be working on.

I actually saw this cover this weekend when I was at a Bookstore looking through the magazine rack. I did look at the cover but thought it was the usual naive press to think that Obama can manage all these items for the average citizen or that he really cares. Basically he and his lobbyist appointments are just making sure nothing really bad for their concerns occurs.

The 6 arms he has are affecting:

The Globe – This is becoming a large area of Obamas interest. He has just completed his longest overseas stay in India. It was expensive, nobody knows exactly how much. But your tax dollars were buying a huge entire hotel to be bought out for Obama, staff, and security.

A Helicopter representing the Military – Yes Obama is responsible for the military and although he said while campaigning that he would stop military options in Iraq and Afghanistan one month after taking office he increased them.

Money – We all know this is not great. Unemployment naggingly stays around 10% and there seems to be no plan to fix this. And first the government stopped showing M3 Money Supply numbers in 2006 and this year it seems that there is a serious contraction of money supply similar to the Great Depression.

A House – Obama’s Mortgage Aid Program has been called a bureaucratic nightmare and approximately 50% of the people that start on the program are falling out.

A Dove – And not only has Obama kept us in all the wars we were in before he took office he is now trying to get more countries to join the fighting and keep their troops longer. So much for keeping the peace. Remember he won a Nobel Prize. It is interesting that one can extend wars and get more people to fight and be considered a beacon for peace.

And finally a Stethoscope – Obama has forced through a medical plan forcing mandatory coverage or risk receiving huge fines for people that are too poor to afford coverage or don’t want it. Remember that young people, naturopathic, and other groups like Amish often don’t want or really need medical insurance.
And even though there is supposedly Mandatory coverage there are 111 companies that have asked for and received a waiver to not need it:

That list includes Cracker Barrel, CIGNA, AETNA, and Jack in the Box. I am sure will be on the list before this becomes law.

Now back to the symbolism of the pose there is little need I think for Obama to being compared to a god again. There was that embarrassing election cycle not too long ago.

And the Newsweek large caption has him called “God of All Things”.

In this pose Newsweek is comparing Obama to the half man, half woman god Shiva not just some creature with a lot of things to do, or a lot of hands. This god is the Indian god of death and Destruction. This is not my interpretation of Shiva. This is fact and how others have explained Shiva.

Here is Heidi Klum dressed as Shiva for a Halloween Party a few Years ago.

Notice that in her hands are things she destroyed like decapitated heads and around her belt are more severed heads and hands.

Great. I expect Obama to handle all those 6 things as well as he has been this last year and a half.

And the trick for a President would to not try to manage all those things. Manage what is important and dictated by the Constitution. Leave people and the private sector to handle the rest.

A new national survey of Israelis, commissioned by the New America Foundation, reveals a very different picture from the narrative that has taken hold regarding Israeli attitudes toward President Obama and American efforts to resolve the Arab-Israeli conflict. Despite repeated media reports touting a “4 percent Obama approval rating”, Israelis actually demonstrate a much more nuanced and supportive view of President Obama. Indeed, what comes to light is solid backing for an American-sponsored final status agreement along the lines of where the parties left off nine years ago at Taba. Moreover, the survey shows that Prime Minister Netanyahu has a great deal of political leeway — including within his own Likud party — with which to sign a peace agreement with the Palestinians.
