Barack Obama will destroy McCain - GOP needs to consider other candidates

I just received a meetup.com email about a website that is attempting to petition people and mainly Republicans to urge the GOP higherups to consider not pushing McCain as the Republican candidate. This comes on news that McCain is going to lose by 15% to Obama in a race with third party candidates. Newsweek recently had an article that polled 1,010 people and it shows what I have expected for some time. That McCain is going to lose by a large amount. This is an amount so large that it will be embarrassing to be a Republican. That will cause more people to leave the GOP.
The GOP has about 2 people for every 3 that the Democrats have. The independents are expected to be split between Obama and McCain. This is surprising to me but remember that McCain is quite liberal so that he can pull from that middle ground and even some Democrats.
But the Democrats are getting HUGE numbers of voters. The GOP has barely won the last few elections under very suspect conditions. If not for a state or two the Democrats would have won. Realistically the GOP needs to start considering changing its tactics, its voter base, and even its candidates. I think the GOP should have a real convention. Have real speeches and come to some consideration of all interested parties.
It’s almost guaranteed that McCain will lose. He won’t be able to run in 2012 as he will be way too old. Right now he is just viewed as too old. Only 2% of people polled think someone in the 70’s is the best age for a President. So he has questionable health, is already viewed bu others as too old, and even states so himself: In the 2000 race he stated that he would be too old in 2008 to run again. So he is not trying to build momentum for a later victory, a-la-Reagan.
The damage he will do by losing so big will be a crippling blow to the GOP for 8 to 12, possibly more years.
This website urges the GOP to ask the GOP to not allow McCain to be the candidate so easily. Please consider going here to let them know at the Letter to the GOP

This is a Ron Paul blog, and you are calling forthe GOP to get a new candidate — essentially saying give Ron Paul the nomination.
Well, I’m with you on giving Ron Paul the Republican nomination…..however, how stupid can you be to mention age in your argument. Perhaps you’re forgetting, but Ron Paul is OLDER than John McCain.
Yes I know Ron Paul is older. But personally I did not say give this to him. Yes because he is the candidate I backed in the primaries obviously he is one of my top choices. But what I am really saying is that McCain is being handed to you to be the loser. He is the best that the GOP can groom for you to win? No, he is the one almost guaranteed to lose and keep you in your left - right paradigm. Republicans and even Democrats will probably grow wary of Obama but only after extending the Iraq / Afghan conflicts more. Possibly including Iran in the future. Obama and Clinton were BOTH saying the pullout from Iraq would be in 2013 or so. So basically after the next election. The American people are being seesawed back and forth between candidates and parties that have very little difference between them.
And if you really want to know I would rather have Romney or Thompson as president if their cabinets and VP were well chosen. It is obvious that the GOP hates Ron Paul and cant stomach someone so far from their current platform.
