It’s why gay people can’t be discriminated against any more than black people were discriminated against back in the 1950′s in the USA.

There’s no real reason not to allow gay marriage. Marriage has historically been considered no more than a profitable contract between two families. Love was hardly considered a valid reason to get married before the 20th century, so it’s not exactly the holy institution it’s supposed to be.
