Police in Missouri Tase injured, unarmed, 16 year old - 19 times!

Sometimes it seems that people like me are just getting a little too worked up about Tasering incidents. There are dangerous people, sometimes they need to be controlled and sometimes they might get hurt or even die.

Then there are stories like this one. Police get a report of a boy walking on an overpass in a dangerous place. They show up and no one is on the overpass but underneath there is a boy matching the description.

Do they think he may be hurt?

Do they think it is the same guy?

Do they think he attempted suicide and get him help?

Do they just call an ambulance and make sure he is not hurt further?

What happens is shocking, disgusting and indicative of the type of police actions we will see more in the future when the police no longer see their job as to “Protect and to serve” but as to Enforce and Incarcerate.

When he would not comply they tased him 19 times.

The first reason they gave is because he would not obey their commands.

Well, he fell 30 feet, may have been sick, had heat stroke, or mental problems. Who knows what was wrong with him. Maybe that would be a job for real police officers, medical doctors, or a psychologist to find out. Why not get the kid some help?

They secondly said he made endangering comments towards officers.

You mean while he was being tasered 19 times he said something about cops and that he hated them? Amazing. Tase me once and I will say all sorts of things about you, your profession, and possibly your mother. Which happened first? The tasing or the swearing? At this point I am thinking we will never know. And were these devices made to be used against unarmed people who where swearing? And really this is the side of the road with no one hearing. Who cares what he says. He aint hurting your pride too much I hope.

And they tased him 19 times to prevent him from getting up and possibly hit in the road.

Being tased is dangerous. People might have a heart attack. They might run away into traffic to avoid being shocked. And since it was obvious he was having some medical or mental problems what exactly do you know how this would react to the damage he just got?

But he could not get up or run away. Because of the fall his back was broke. His heel was cracked. He was not going anywhere and in fact was probably in extreme pain. I have had people scream and curse at me while in pain. I did not take it personally.
