USS New York ship steel from WTC?
So does the USS New York really have World Trade Center steel in it?
Or is this whole story an urban myth?
Well according to snopes.com it appears that the ship really has 24 tons of WTC steel in it. It is the latest amphibious ship built for the US Navy. It will have a crew of 350 sailors and support 700 Marines to get to the fight. It is an interesting, nice to look at ship. Even though I don’t support the current war in Iraq and any escalations of it, I am not against the military. But it was christened on Saturday March 1st. It is not complete yet. They are still working on the interior of the ship. But here are some more pictures of the new billion dollar toy:

My comment: Well ships don’t last forever. Usually 20 to 30 years. And do we really need more things around to remind us about September 11th? Is that what psychiatrists suggest? Maybe the families of those lost, and us others want to move on.

My comment: Great another politician with a Gates of Hell reference. Is this really necessary? And it sounds a little like we would sacrifice the captain and crew to kill some aging terrorist with severe kidney problems if he is still alive at all. What about our nice citizens that don’t believe in Hell? Do they need constant reminding that a lot of the current administration are Born-Again evangelicals?
I bet you expected me to whine about the potential waste of money didn’t you? Well you know when we waste $14 billion a month in the war, at least this $1 billion purchase is cheaper than a week of carnage and lasts for a while. And it is another feather in Northrop Grumman’s cap. Recently Grumman got the bid for the new in air refueling tankers.
In a totally unrelated story, Northrop Grumman’s Stock price has doubled since Septemeber 11th,2001. Profit for 2007 was $6.2 billion with a profit margin of 5.63%. It’s OK work if you can get it.
