Ron Paul Blimp Update
We have been eagerly anticipating seeing the first blimp used in a Presidential Campaign this week. It was to Launch Friday around 9:00 am in Elizabeth Town, North Carolina. Then it is scheduled to head south to Charlotte and then Columbia to be part of the festivities this weekend.
But it is delayed now. The second huge banner was made by hand and was to fly by commercial airplane but all flights were cancelled. The staff of the Air Ship are now personally driving the banner through blizzard like conditions. Does the drama ever end? Well not yet. Stay tuned.
It is to launch as soon as possible but we are not sure if this is Friday, or when it is.
Here is a copy of the Press Release that we had written but will need to be changed:

PRESS RELEASE
RON PAUL SUPPORTERS TO LAUNCH BLIMP FROM NORTH CAROLINA
Grassroots Effort Flies from North Carolina on way to Columbia SC
Wed Dec 12, 5:45 PM ET
ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. - Supporters of Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul plan to launch a blimp bearing his name Friday December 14th, 2007 from Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
The 200-foot-long blimp is scheduled to fly over several major cities including Charlotte, Columbia, Boston, New York, and Washington DC before heading to New Hampshire for this year’s first primary election on January 8th, 2008.
This will be the first blimp flown to have the name of a Presidential candidate and it has been conceived, organized, and funded entirely by volunteers. The company providing the blimp has it’s blimp hangar in North Carolina. There has been a few days delay in getting the banners made and shipped to one of the few blimp hangars large enough for this blimp in the United States. Friday morning it launches from Elizabeth City and makes a flyover Raleigh, in the morning, on it’s way to Charlotte in the evening. Saturday around noon it will be in Columbia making an appearance at the Columbia Ron Paul Tea Party to commemorate the 234th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.
Liberty Political Advertising, the company organizing the project, includes such notable names as Trevor Lyman who organized the record-setting $4.3 million one day online donation drive on November 5th, 2007 and Bradley Smith, Former Director of the Federal Election Commission. A Web site dedicated to the blimp says the group has raised more than $265,000 as of Wednesday evening.
The company has been able to function separately from the Ron Paul campaign due to its structure as a for-profit company selling sponsored ads, avoiding limits on campaign contributions.
For more information about the blimp or where it is currently, please visit http://www.ronpaulblimp.com. The blimp isn’t officially affiliated with the Texas congressman’s campaign which is has it’s website at http://www.ronpaul2008.com.
