Tax Day 2008 rally in Washington DC update

Granny Warriors Tax Day 08 DC

The first of the summertime rallies that are scheduled has just happened on April 15, 2008. It is called “Tax Day 08″ and was to protest the income tax that happens on April 15th of each year. This protest was organized by The Granny Warriors, a great group that travels the country in the interest of political reform and freedom. Ron Paul and many of his followers, Granny Warriors would like the income tax repealed for a variety of reasons. Some of these seem to be:

  • That the income tax law – Amendment 16 may have never been properly ratified by the states.
  • The 1099 form does not have the proper Office Mangement Bureau OMB stamp and form number on the bottom of the form so it may not be considered official.
  • That the form also has by having you admit income and sign the bottom is violating your 5th Amendment rights of not self incriminating yourself for something that may be used against you in court.
  • That the original Constitution did not allow taxation on you that is not proportional and that is mandatory. This means that the 16th Amendment is unconstitutional.
  • That the Supreme Court has stated that the income tax is not valid and that judgement in early 1900s has never been turned down.

Despite these various arguments Ron Paul has stated that he does not choose to fight the income tax by not paying. I also agree that not paying is just looking for trouble as the IRS has and will violently enforce their beliefs, seize your property, and try you in a way to humiliate and confuse you. Additionally there are excellent arguments that state that most of these tax protester beliefs are faulty and rely on limited or optimistic in view.So on this yearly time of paying out taxes lets file and pay your taxes as we are expected to, but peacefully protest when we can at great meetings like the “Tax Day 08″ and the upcoming Ron Paul DC March.

This story is part 2 of 7 in a week of good news about Ron Paul, the freedom movement and Americans in general. A few days ago I noticed the posts were getting a bit negative and dared myself to write a week of positive news.
